If I could give a 100 star review, I would. My wife and I have traveled all over the world and done some pretty cool trips, and nothing compares to the staff and location and food and accommodations that Sansara offers. We came here for a Yoga and Surf retreat, and had just completed a purchase of a new home, moving, selling our old house, and all the stress and logistics that comes along with those things, and left feeling like completely new people. From the moment we arrived (we rented a truck in Panama City and made the approximate 5.5 hour drive to Cambutal), the entire staff greeted us at the entrance and it was just incredible from there. Absolutely gorgeous, secluded location directly on the Pacific Ocean surrounded by lush green mountains with an abundance of world class surf breaks that were never once remotely crowded (we're talking a max of 6 people the whole time I was there) for a variety of levels from beach breaks to point breaks and beyond. Every member of the staff from the owners to the GM to the surf crew (Noah, Elsa, Margaux, etc.) to the front of the house to the restaurant (Fernando, Benny, Kike, Ruth, Kevin, Valeria and the rest) to the housekeeping and landscaping and massage was just amazing. These are truly great people who care about their employees as much as they do their guests, and it shows how dialed in they are with the happiness and positivity of their employees. They also care about supporting the local economy, sustainability, and the environment. The rooms are simply incredible. The food was just outstanding. Fresh, local farm to table and sea to table cuisine. Clean and healthy. Excellent choice of local and craft beer and wines and cocktails. I cannot wait to come back. I left as a better surfer, better yogi, a better person, and you will too. The drive in is long, but it is all paved roads the entire way and WELL WORTH the effort to get to a place that is not touristy. - John & Cat
Pure relaxation and paradise. The place is luxury accommodations with a peaceful vibe. The people are wonderful and enjoyed getting to know the crew. Had a blast trying to surf for the first time- Thanks Kenny! He’s a great guy and local instructor at Sansara. We loved the food and enjoyed the personalized approach we felt from the Sansara crew. Wonderful trip ! Panama is great and look forward to another visit!
Sansara is a true gem. My husband and I came to visit this was our first time to Cambutal. Our room was great we stayed in the Apana the first night and the Casita the rest of the time. Both were beautiful great rooms. The casita has access to the beach so that was really really nice. We have been to many places in Panamá, but I have to say Sansara is one of our favorites. The food is INSANELY DELICIOUS. It’s very hard to eat vegan and travel but this hotel made it easy, they will pretty much change any meal you want to how you need it. And honestly I had the best tofu here I ever had. Everything is super fresh, lots of flavors. And Panamá is always on island time, so normally you wait at least and hour for your food, their restaurant here was always timely even if it got busy. The smoothies and juices are incredible, the Tropicana is delicious!! The yoga Shala is awesome and I highly recommend doing the yoga class. Both Janelle and Mike (owners) are so sweet and have built a great escape. I highly recommend this place, loved every minute!
I recently visited Sansara resort in Cambutal for a three week yoga teacher training. The resort is situated in paradise, immersed in the jungle, steps from the ocean. What made my stay at Sansara so memorable was the vibrant staff that bring an energy to the space that is like no other. The room was incredible and made for a very relaxing experience. The food was delicious and unique - every day was a new culinary adventure. At Sansara they truly set up the experience so that you can fully immerse yourself and enjoy. I would highly recommend visiting! Thank you Sansara for creating a slice of paradise.
This heavenly boutique resort is a magical spot to unwind, reconnect with mother nature and be taken care of by a dedicated, wholehearted and genuinely caring team. From the stunning yoga shala, the surf lessons, to the exquisite healthy and colorful meals, everything is well-thought through. Janel & Mike have infused so much love in every little corner of Sansara that you feel in bliss and this is an understatement. I can't wait to be back
